Depression is a loss of hope. It is depression that makes people think of killing themselves. When you have lost hope in an extreme way, then you begin to think of killing yourself. You want to die because there is no hope. A Christian who is full of joy is different from a depressed Christian. God wants to give us a revival of joy in the Holy Spirit!
Unless we are really trusting Him, where does the praise come in? This peace the Savior gives is not an artificial one. It is so deep that even the devil can't disturb it. You can't hear things in the Spirit while you have any turmoil or fear in you. You can't take a shade of fear into the presence of God.
Replace thoughts of yesterday's mistakes with scriptural promises about your future. As you do that, hope will start taking the place of depression. Instead of looking behind you and saying, 'I can't' you'll begin to look ahead and say, 'I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me'
